once upon a time...

I qualified as a Barrister in 1989, but after a short tenure as a lawyer in Tokyo, I ended up following my real passion - music and film. I started moonlighting as a DJ, playing Jazz, Funk, Soul and Brazilian music throughout Japan in the Nineties. I set up Mr Bongo, Tokyo and the Disorient Record label in 1993. Bongo became one of the most popular vinyl shops in Japan and the label unleashed funky new Japanese artists onto the international scene, such as DJ Krush & Monday Michiru. I also had my own band Routine and wrote for and produced many seminal Japanese artists. After 10 years in music working alongside international icons such as Kraftwerk, Jamiroquai, Beastie Boys, Dimitri from Paris, Bernard Purdie, Coldcut etc,  I reoriented back to the UK. Initially working for Rapido TV (Eurotrash), CNX and Twenty Twenty TV, I also released a few House singles on the Hed Kandi label.

and then...

In 2004, I founded Ichikoo Films making  music videos, event promos, short films and commercials. I'm a skilled cameraman, editor and director. I've produced films single-handedly or led a full crew from pre-production to the finished thing. I've interviewed more celebrity chefs than they've had hot dinners, worked with major agencies, creatives and brands. I'm easy going, creative, artistic and have the perfect soundtrack for any film, honing decades of musical knowledge into funky, powerful visuals.
